A week in Mürren #3

It had snowed overnight, but was quite overcast and still too warm. Steve, Tim and John were keen to ski again for the afternoon though but Bev didn’t fancy it, preferring to walk beside the railway track from Mürren to Winteregg, a lovely trail with glimpses of the mountains through the trees as the sun tried to break through the clouds. We all met up for delicious homemade kuchen and coffee at the Winteregg chairlift restaurant. Once again, an excellent, enjoyable day for everyone! As she hadn’t been ski-ing, Bev offered to do the shop at the Co-op and cook a special three course supper for the penultimate night.

Saturday and it’s the last day of our week in Mürren. It had snowed overnight again, but the visibility was still pretty poor and many of the runs were closed, so we hired toboggans. After taking the Allmendhubel funicular, the upper part of the toboggan run, partly shared with skiers, was very sticky snow and it was hard to get any speed up. The lower section was great fun though, tumbling into the soft snow but not getting too wet. Steve decided to get his skis for a couple of last runs, before taking everything back to the hire shop. Packing mostly done and after a search for somewhere to watch the rugby we go up to the Hotel Bellevue to watch it on their big screen and eat in the restaurant.
