2026: Interrailing to Greece
Bought a Global 1st Class Interrail Pass and spent March, 2026 on the railways (and ferry across the Adriatic between Italy and Greece) travelling to Athens and back, follow our Interrail routes here.
2025: Destination Svalbard!
June 2025 found us taking a plane for the first time in ten years. We flew from London to Longyearbyen, Svalbard via Oslo and Tromso. It’s 1,000 miles north of Norway, follow our Arctic Adventure here.
Campervan trips: 2019 – 2025
In 2018 we ‘upgraded’ from our trusty Mazda Bongo to a fully self-sufficient van. This blog records our adventures from January 2023 with a resume of 2019, the last trip outside the UK pre-Covid19.
We had an Adria 600 Twin, Fiat Ducato base. Nearing 30,000 miles on a 2017 plate, we replaced it with a Hymer 600S, Mercedes Sprinter base, 2020 model in 2023. A bit smaller with automatic transmission the seats are significantly better. We can stow all we need for a long trip and live comfortably even in cold, wet weather. The first ‘big trip’ in the Hymer was to Spain & Portugal, 2024. After a few technical issues, we decided not to trade in and went to Spain again, 2025, followed by several shorter trips in the UK.
We spend quite a bit of time in Suffolk with the van, where we’ve got a classic yacht, over 125 years old, ‘Cachalot’.
