Campervan trips: 2019 – 2025
In 2018 we ‘upgraded’ from our trusty Mazda Bongo to a fully self-sufficient van. This blog records our adventures, starting in January 2023 with a quick look back to 2019, the last time we left the UK pre-Covid19 lockdowns.
Until September, 2023, we had an Adria 600 Twin, based on a Fiat Ducato. Nearing 30,000 miles on a 2017 plate, we replaced it with a Hymer 600S, based on a Mercedes Sprinter, 2020 model. A bit smaller with automatic transmission the seats are significantly better making a more comfortable drive. We can stow all we need for a long trip and live comfortably even in cold and wet weather. The first ‘big trip’ in the Hymer was to Spain & Portugal, 2024. After a few technical issues, on balance, we decided not to trade in for something else. Took to the road again for 2025, Spain & UK with a few sailing distractions . . .
We spend quite a bit of time in Suffolk with the van, where we’ve got a classic yacht, over 125 years old, ‘Cachalot’. She has her own website.
